Nano Launches

Nano - the most awaited Indian car has launched today. With the turbulence of the economy at the peak, there cannot be a better time to bring hope to people. And it came from India's best and most innovative people - the Tatas. The Tatas have always done it for the people owing to their goal of social entrepreneurship. Of giving it back to them who they owe.

Nano brings hope to Indian middle class - who dared never thought about buying a car for themselves. And raking in the hoopla - the car is fuel efficient and thus environment friendly, the car isn't a toy and seats 4, the car is small enough to think it would be swelling traffic. To say that it is one of the best examples of innovation in modern times wont be wrong.

To this I am reminded of a talk at PAN IIT 2008. The session had three speakers - CEO, Tata Motors, CEO, Tata Steel and CEO, Tata Consultancy. In the midst of the session, one of the speakers quipped something that hovers in mind till date.

"At the World Auto Expo at Detroit, the only missing car was the Tata Nano. And it was the most talked about car."
